Charting a new course!

When the idea for Shared Treasure Hunt first bubbled up a dozen years ago, the world was a very different place. Owing in great part to the pandemic, protocols at shelters that house children and families in need have changed. No longer are we able to "drop off" gifts and supplies for children we wish to serve.

With that in mind, we are working to connect with a nationwide organization that will serve as a drop off location and distributor of the booty collected during the Shared Treasure Hunt program.

If you have any suggestions or connections, we're all ears—ears with gold hoop earrings, naturally.

And if you have a connection with Boys & Girls Clubs, Girls Scouts, Boy Scouts or something similar, we'll offer you extra rations and an additional day of shore leave!

STH sponsor DJ Piper shared what went into the backpack she put together.

I can only imagine how bowled over the recipient will be!

Shared Treasure Hunt's first interview on a podcast!

A treasure chest full of thanks to Cindy Freeman for inviting us to be the first guests on her Positive News Month kickoff podcast. First Mate Hurricane Heather and Capitaine Joie both had a ball.

Shared Treasure Hunt Kickoff Celebration to be held in Long Beach

LONG BEACH, CA — Our Flag Means Hope! That’s the motto of Shared Treasure Hunt, the pirate-themed kids-helping-kids activity created to enable children nationwide to supply aid to impoverished and homeless youth. To jumpstart the program, a Pirate Picnic will be held on July 9 from 10am to 12noon at the park next to Mother’s Beach in Naples, Long Beach.

In addition to enjoying celebratory cake and bilge water punch, attendees will have the opportunity to sing sea shanties and interact with a number of piratical folk, helmed by the Port Royal Privateers who will entertain with song and games and suitably mischievous behavior.

Trinity of the Port Royal krewe states, “We are delighted to be part of such a worthy cause with such a fun theme. Children’s charitable activities are near and dear to our hearts, and the fact Shared Treasure Hunt encourages young scallywags to get involved by giving to their less fortunate peers is even more exciting.”

The picnic is a BYO victuals and seats affair. Refreshments will be doled out only to those on the guest list, so make sure you get on the list by filling in the RSVP form at https://drive.google.com/file/d/1nGPP2WO7Bs9FKbeWaUoRAlfyEFftZhkc/view?usp=sharing . Reservation spots are limited and are only open through June 30; limit #4 guests. All minors must be accompanied by an adult.

The Shared Treasure Hunt program officially runs July 11-31, just in time to help kids get a head start before the new school year. Sponsors include DJ Piper, JSD Johnston, Whimsicalidocious Arts, and The Academy of Omniosophical Arts & Sciences.

For details, visit STH.whimsicalidocious.org. All are welcome aboard!

Setting sail in search of 2022 treasures!

Don't be surprised to find wee pirates pillaging in your hall closet in July 2022 when our first official hunt sets sail.

And if you want more fun than a bottle of butter run, join your fellow corsairs in our private Facebook group.

Comic Treasures

Homeless kids have the same needs and interests as everyone else: food, shelter, safety, and FUN!

When putting together your treasure chests (aka backpacks) for your Shared Treasure Hunt beneficiary, don't forget to include something in the way of entertainment.

Previously read paperbacks and comic books will put big smiles on the faces of kids in need. And what's more, they can share and circulate these treasures with their own krewes.

Growing Pains? Growing Gains!

Back-to-School time will soon be in full swing.

And that means new clothes for the scallywags who've outgrown last year's duds.

So what to do with yer old hoodies and pirate wear?

Set it aside as part of yer Shared Treasure Hunt loot!
